Candy Corn, Pumpkin Pie, and an Update!

Happy Halloween Sweeties!

This year I wanted to post my update on Halloween! Yup, I think it's just more asthetic that way. At least that's how I think it is in my mind, ya know? In a way I guess it would mean that i'm a little late on the update since it's literally one day away so...maybe not my best idea ever lol. In a way I guess it really does set us up for my November reading plans so I guess it's just how you want to look at it :)

So right now, I'm currently reading the Seaside Pictures series by Rachel Van Dyken (which I am planning to post soon). I have already finished the first book which may I write, was AAAAMAZINGGG! I LOVED IT! unfortunately I ate it up Wayy too fast. Something that can't be helped when you're a bookworm, heehee. Luckily book 2 was out so I slipped right into that baby. On the downside, it's not as great as the first book. I'm wide eyed and gobbling it up, but I'm not as strapped in and ready to read as I was with the first book. On the upside, I do really really like this book so I'm pretty sure I'll be done with it very soon and then I'll be able to post another review!

I also wanted to give you my usual Next Up To Read List:

1. Twisted Palace by Erin Watt

2. Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas

3. Unsteady by Shey Stahl

4. Breathing Fire by Rebecca K. Lilley

5. Tear by Rachel Van Dyken - I'm not entirely sure about this one but it's the original series of Seaside Pictures (a spin off) so I'm hoping to try this series *fingers crossed*

So these are my top five picks to read next! I didn't write my usual descriptors on how I feel about reading them because two of them are sequals to my favorite series (plural). And the others are ones that I'm not 100% all about. Like I want to read them, but mostly I'm judging by the cover at this point. Yup.

I hope you all are having a wonderful Halloween and I will be posting more soon! I have a list of books already waiting to be reviewed, so I'm sure I'll have something for you guys in the upcoming weeks. :) hopefully before the next monthly update heehee

Questions of the week:

  • Do you celebrate halloween?
  • What are you dressing up as? Do you like to dress up?
  • What is the spookiest book you've ever read?
Alrighty sweeties! That's all I've got for you guys this month I'll see you in November!

A Sweet and Sour Read :)

Greetings Sweeties!

How are you all? So! I am very excited to post my first book review of the month....well actually the first review since September when I read the sucker, "The Red Queen". I think that book somewhat scarred me a bit and it really took me a little while to get back into actually picking a book to read. For me, I have to say, the worst part about being a bookworm is picking out a book. It's like have an itch and when you try to scratch it, you suddenly realize that it's not in that spot and it gets under your skin and become impossible to scratch! Have you ever felt that? No? Well, if you have then high five and I'm glad you get my reference! If you answered no...then I never wish that feeling upon you ;) Ever.

Anyways, let's set aside my very random and very awkward opening, and get to something you all care more about. The review! So this month I picked a series of books that I've had on my TBR list for a really long time, but I just never got to. These I promise you were ones that I researched fully, so that I wouldn't have last month's problem, happen again.  If you guys are new and don't know what happened last month, here's the short version. I messed up. It's that simple. I picked a bunch of random books on my TBR list that I wasn't excited about and I hated them. Trust me putting the review up would've had one common title on each of those picks. It would be "SUCKER". I don't know.... maybe it was just me, but I just couldn't get into them. Some were just one big grammar error. Grrr. I just made the short story very long again! Sorry!

Okay so that's what went down last month! This month was the COMPLETE OPPOSITE! I have been reading some fantaaaastic books this month! Some of the best this year in fact! Trust me I will be posting those soon. Believe me, they are just that good.

So this week I will be posting a review on Sincerely, Carter by Whitney G

25056528This Book is About...?

Just friends.
We’re just friends.
No, really. She’s just my best friend...

Arizona Turner has been my best friend since fourth grade, even when we “hated” each other. We’ve been there for one another through first kisses, first “times,” and we’ve been each other’s constant when good relationships turned bad. (We even went to colleges that were minutes away from each other…)

Throughout the years, and despite what anyone says, we’ve never crossed the line.

Never thought about it.
Never wanted to.

Until one night changed everything.
At least, it should’ve ...

Just friends.
We’re just friends.
I’m only saying this until I figure out if she’s still “just” my best friend…

(goodreads synopsis from goodreads.com)

What I Thought slash Rating:

I want to say before I continue that this book was really reallly reeeeeally good. The only thing that made me hit that four star for this book was the content. *blows out a breath* This is gonna sound really dumb, but please bear  with me. I really like books with substance. I say this because I don't really like books that keep bringing up the "s" word. Now I'm not gonna spell it out because I like to keep this blog "kid friendly" but for those of you who guessed it, great! Now, I don't really mind books that bring up dialogue with that word in it or bad words or stuff like that I mean duh. most contemporary romances are like that, but I just don't enjoy the book as much when it's mentioned like every five minutes. Don't get me wrong, this is a "it's me not you" kind of thing so if you would like to Please just ignore that entire top part.

One other thing that got to me was that I didn't love Arizona. There were some parts where I felt like she could've been "better" and same with Carter. Then there were parts where I wished were moved around, but then at the same time I liked the structure...so *sighs* I don't really have a fair argument there either. But I guess it was just preference to the writing style?

There was A LOT of good though! Or I wouldn't have given it such a high rating! I loved the characters chemistry! I loved their hangouts and that they knew everything about each other! I absolutely ADORED how Carter would drop what he was doing for Ari and vice versa. It was sweet and endearing. I did also like how the author wrote about these characters. She really built them up and gave us the bigger picture.

Who Should Read It?

Overall this was a very good and smooth and "sweet" story with humor and that is a lot of 'ands'. Basically it was just a great book.

This would be great for readers who like contemporary romances with A LOT of angst. Man especially at that ending! I loved it! It's great for readers who love the dual POVs and flashbacks. Yup there are like four different chapters with those in them, which weren't bad, but I may have skipped one or two.

You have to read it! I was skeptical at first, but I am truly glad that I gave it a go and you should too! If you guys do read it or have read it. Comment below. Tell me what YOU thought about it. Do you agree? Disagree? I wanna hear your opinions so don't be shy :) Even if you just want to say hi, it's cool ;)

Alright by guys!

Sincerely

P.

Top 10 Contemporary Romances! + A Teensy Update...again!

Hello Sweeties!

So today I wanted to post a Top 3 Contemporary Romances! I know, I know, its a little late (by like one or two days), but it's here today! XD Even though, I already posted something this week I still felt like it didn't do as much justice. The main reasoning for this little post in our Post of the Week sesh.

Anyways! As you all know, my love for books is very broad but usually sticks to either Paranormal Roms or Contemporaries Roms.  Everything else is up in the air compared to those two genres, ya know?

Alright, enough of my nerdy talk, onto da list!

My Top Contemporary Romances!

This will be in descending order, 1 being the best. These are literally all my favorites.

1. The Rosemary Beach series by Abbi Glines. - This book is one of my absolute favorites and will probably remain this way for FOREVER! It's the writing, and the scenery (aka the setting), and just the overall dialogue, and then some! Rush is aloof and fits the ideal man (nowhere near perfect but at the same time cares). And Blaire is a girl who is just trying to live without falling through her grief. I think that Abbi was soooo soooo sooo creative with her storyline and built it with an unobtainable amount of imagination! This book has situations that really remind me of real life, adds a touch of humor to those probs, and finises off with you wanting MORE! I swear I was sweating and cursing by the time I got the next book because it couldn't be released fast enough!

2. BULLY by Penelope Douglas. - My Oh My was this book FANTASTIC! I looooved this book with a passion! I don't exactly know why...oh Yeah I DO! It was the EVERYTHING! I loved the fact that the MC fell in love with her bully....yeah that sounds sooo wrong, but I swear it's not as bad as it sounds. In a way...I guess it is, but when you read the story the characters and the character's problems come alive. They open up like a blossom waiting to be truly bloom. Then when it finally comes out into the open you really see the TRUE beauty of the situation.

3. Neighbor From Hell series by R.L. Mathewson - This SERIES is phenomenal! It's so realistic and absolutely and completely creative. Everything that happens is simply imaginative and really captures the essence of the author's mind! Every conflict, conversation, and romantic scene is filled with down to earth-ness that just makes it really realistic!

The Update...

Guys! This is some exciting news! I have finally picked a book! Yup....alright so it's not that exciting, but I feel like it's been FOOOOREEEVER since I really settled on a book so it's like hitting gold or something. Huh, that just made me think of boogers *cringe*. Anyhoo. When I meant tiny update I really meant it. So I will try very hard to have a review for ya'll next week! I know keeping up with me is hard because I said every weekend and I've just been...well...ALL OVER THE PLACE. But I really am trying guys so please bare...bear....er...aco-taco. Okay well try to "bear" with me!

Alrighty guys! Have a good night!!

Love,
P

September update part 2!

Alright Sweeties! Let's roll up our sleeves and get to business...SO I know that this is not a Friday or a Saturday post like I had promised AND I know that I have a lot of 'splainin to do. Here we go...

Since the update, nothing has really changed. I'm still in school and basically have gotten NO reading done, whatsoever. I have tried to read, but I cant really get into anything right now. The last "reading schedule" was a bust because I didn't like ANY of those books. I know it's lame, but it's what happened. I either thought the writing was bad or the book just wasn't getting interesting...aka I was bored.

I have tried thinking of some books, but all I can come up with are a few genres. I am hoping to start on some new releases! Let's face it, I miss reading.

So here's the deal guys. Yes I have a lot of stuff going on like family and school, but I WILL be putting up some new stuff!!! You'll just have to be patient with me! For example, Tomorrow I'll have my first exam in one of my classes so I really shouldn't be writing anything right now! But I also missed blogging, so take that SCHOOL! lol

Here is the plan guys. Either this Friday or next Friday, I will be posting a my favorite contemporary romances list. Then I will be hopefully posting more, but we shall see. Just keep tuned and I'll either be starting "Empire of Storms" or something I've been craving.

Alright I gotta go but I'll be back soon!

September Update...Part 1

Hi Sweeties!

I know that this update is coming really really early! I did this because I wanted to give a small little update instead of an actual new post. :) So this week has been filled to the brim with homework and family stuff. So I haven't really had very much time to actually read (sadly) :( Everytime I try to wake up really early (5 am to be exact) to read something, I end up pressing snooze and end up sleeping until I have to get up (which is only really an hour more of sweet sleep) this gives me no time to read! I know it's like a stab to the heart! The good news about it is that it's given me a bit more time to really think about my reading schedule, which I may end up changing (slightly). Wow that is A LOOOOT  of parenthesis lol.

So because I've been a horrible blogger slash bookworm, I've decided to not leave you guys hanging AGAIN by posting at least something. Since it is the beginning of September, I had decided to do a quick monthly update. This won't be the FULL update of the month because my  brain came up with the wonderful idea to cut this month's update in half! I know right? My brain's patting itself on the back and doin' a fancy little jig over that idea!

ONTO THE UPDATE!

As I've said before I am currently not reading anything, but I am planning to start Story of me and you this month...er...wait...or was it Story of us? I think it was Story of me and you....maybe. Any-who, technically I am currently reading it, I did read the first paragraph...but that probably doesn't count huh. Thought so.

Other than that I have only changed one book on my TBR list for August - September! I added Tiger's Curse by Colleen Houck. The list is still subject to continual change, but probably won't be changed. I just like to say that in case I do end up changing it, which again I most likely won't. So for ALL of you sweet blog readers of mine that are following along on my TBR journey, I will most likely post a review for each of those books on my list! It might just take a little time (probably not as long as before) and some much needed downtime! Gah I am so bad! I just started classes and I'm already thinking of R&R?!

So what do you guys up to? Are any of YOU starting school, or have started school? If you have, do you all have time to read?? And those of you that aren't in school or work or etc. What are you guys reading/up to?

Alrighty sweeties! Paige over and out!

OH MY RED HOTS! It's The 'Red Queen'!

Hey Sweeties!

I am sorry for the late post! This past week has just been too hectic! I've been just working on my schedule and working in my classes. So I have just been busy! But luckily I have some time today to write a review on a book that I have been hearing EVERYWHERE! I mean on Instagram, Goodreads, and everywhere else you can hear about books! I decided that since it's one of those popular YA's, it would be great read to try. So let's get into the Review!

This Book is About...?

22328546Red Queen is about a girl named Mare Barrows. She's a red girl living in the "slums" aka the Reds and under the thumb of Silvers. In this world the silvers and the Reds are enemies, both fighting an endless war. Suddenly, Mare is yanked out of her home and her impending doom at becoming a soldier stuck in the battlegrounds. Instead she is placed in the palace. Inside a castle with glass walls and cold blood. She must act like one, even worse, she will become their princess. As she lives with the Silvers she learns things that the Reds will never truly understand. She learns secrets, mysteries, and the true downfall of an already doomed kingdom.

What I Thought slash Rating:

Red Queen was like a cross between Hunger Games and possibly Throne of Glass. Although, they are really good books, this one didn't quite meet their standards. Out of five stars I am giving this sweet read a four. It didn't have that thing that truly reels you in, that spark, that connection that connects you to the character, but it did have an interesting story.

Another reason why I didn't give it a 5 star is because I feel like I felt more cons about Mare than pros. I feel like the reasoning for Mare's decisions weren't justifiable or clear. I don't want to spoil anything, but I just felt like she wasn't doing things for the right reasons. except maybe when she was doing things for her friends. I just felt like they were more selfish reasons than for the goodness of others. And I guess when I read books or even when I watch movies, I try to find stuff with protagonists with character. Morals. Rules that they live by even if they start out for the wrong reason, it ends up being for the greater good and becomes for the greater good. In other words...Character development.

This book didn't have much of that. It had some fighting, good people, and a lot of blah. There was just soooo much politics and craziness and I feel like I'm still wondering about some parts. Then again it was a great book in the sense where it kept you going. I mean I didn't DNF it and I have to say after a certain point there was no going back. I was invested and curious on how Red Queen was going to end! In fact, I was even blown away by some of those twists.

Overall, it was a good book and even though I found some similarities to The Hunger Games and Throne of Glass, it was a pretty original story with twists that were pretty surprising. And I know it was surprising to many others too, by the reviews that I had read.

Who Should Read It?

Red Queen would be a great book for those who LOVE books with lots of different aspects and genres. It did have a lot of fighting (war), politics (between reds and silvers), and even a lovely Love Triangle. Yep ladies and gents, if you don't like love triangles (like me) this book isn't for you. It wasn't as strong as other books, but it is there. Those who love a strong romantic connection from beginning to end, this isn't for you. There is romance elements, but it's not like a connection that grows throughout the story (in my opinion). But the romance is still there! I know I'm being confusing, sorry!

Alright guys! I think that's about it. I did like this book and I hope you guys did too! What are you guys reading? Are any of you reading anything off the list I put in my update? If so, tell me about it in the comments below. :) I'd really like to hear from you guys so don't be a stranger!

August Update!

Hi Sweeties!

Here's another August update! I wanted to post this as close to the beginning of the month as I could and since the month is already half way through! I can't believe it! Fall classes will be starting soon and I could have sworn that the summer had just started. I guess my brain needs to catch up with the times huh :)

As usual I do want to say that since Fall session is coming up. This doesn't mean I stop reviewing or posting. Even on my busiest months, I at least try to have an update ready for you guys. I just want to say...er...write this because it's just an update on my schedule slash life, lol.

So without further or do, I'm going to tell you what's coming up next! Basically, I had promised you all plenty of reviews this month and I had even created a new schedule and everything! And while I did post some, I hadn't posted as much as I wanted to. So this means that I'll just have to keep hoping to step up my game, or in this case my blog. ;) Okay cheesy jokes aside, I want to also add a little spiel about the books I'm reading now, pending a review (THAT WILL BE POSTED). Also the reason not all of the reviews went up as planned.

First off, I will explain my mishap in reviews this month! When I had planned the July/August TBR list, I seriously had planned on writing the reviews as numbered on the list. The reason I didn't was my own fault entirely! Obviously. *rolls eyes at myself* I didn't do this because I was feeling a little iffy about the books on the list to begin with. I didn't hate the books on the list, but I wasn't itching reading them either. Also most of the books that I had put on the list were rereads, which I am working on not doing anymore, unless truly feel the urge to. I mean, who can resist a really good reread every once and a while, right?

As for what I am currently reading, I have started a book called Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. Right now, I'm kind of in the middle as far as feelings about this read goes. I am not exactly "in love" with it and I am not disliking it either! So that's a plus. :) I guess I like it because I am starting to understand the character and her decisions, but I don't love it yet because I wasn't in love with her in the beginning. I don't really want to explain more than that because this isn't the review, yet ;) But I am planning on doing one for this book sometime this week! You will get the full aspect of my feels then.

So what's next on my list?

Here is my schedule of this months TBRs:

  1. Winter by Frankie Rose - The synopsis sounds pretty good, but it does sound a little darker than what I'm used to reading. So I'm a little apprehensive about reading this one, but it does sound good, so we shall see.
  2. The Story of You and Me by Pamela DuMond - Although this one didn't get the highest of ratings on Goodreads, I'm kind of excited to read this one. From the Blurb, it sounds like a really nice book and I like the idea of the storyline. I'm not 100% sure I'll love it, but that's the whole point in reading it right?
  3. Until It Hurts to Stop - This one is completely on my maybe list for two reasons. One is that it got not as great ratings on good reads (3.44 - not that it really deters me) and because it sounds like it might be a love triangle kind of book. I really dislike love triangles and there has only been a very rare few that really get my love :) So we shall really see with this one!
  4. Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi - This will be my very first Dystopian novel so I really really really don't know how to feel about it! I guess in a way I'm pretty psyched to start it because it will be my first. You can't hate something you've never tried before, so yeah...
  5. Tattered Love by Lola Stark - I'm liking the synopsis and I hope I like the story!
Well, sweeties, this is what my reading schedule looks like for the next month. It looks like it's going to be four contemporary romances + one Dystopian (which I'm still pretty psyched for!). Now, for those newbies on my blog, this list is very LOOSE! I may read all of these and I may only read half, leaving maybe one or two out! This just depends on whether or not I DNF (don't finish) it or if I get around to it before my next update! Usually, if I don't get to it by the next update, they just roll over or I pick out some new titles depending on how I feel at the time :)

I know this post was long, but I hope it really answers some questions! Like I said before I just want to let you all know what I've been up to and what I'll be doing and reviewing next! I encourage you guys to read along with me if you'd like to prepare for my upcoming reviews :) If you don't that's perfectly okay too! If you do want to, you can pick any one of these babies and hopefully I'll have the review for it up by the time you're done :) Happy reading guys!

~ P

P.S. I just want to say too that I'm going to be trying out something new for my reviewing schedule! I want to try setting up a posting day which will be...Fridays/Mondays! Yup I will try posting something every Friday OR Monday. Even if I don't post a review, I will be posting SOMETHING! I hope this helps guys! For both me and you guys! Alright keep reading and smiling sweeties and I'll be posting soon!! :D

Sweets, I Darken

Hola Sweeties! Paige here!

So today I wanted to review a recent YA favorite/Newby! It's called And I Darken and
let me tell you I wish I can darken it from my mind. Okay so that's a little bit of an overstatement, but I can't help it.

This book is about...

27190613No one expects a princess to be brutal. And Lada Dragwlya likes it that way. Ever since she and her gentle younger brother, Radu, were wrenched from their homeland of Wallachia and abandoned by their father to be raised in the Ottoman courts, Lada has known that being ruthless is the key to survival. She and Radu are doomed to act as pawns in a vicious game, an unseen sword hovering over their every move. For the lineage that makes them special also makes them targets.

Lada despises the Ottomans and bides her time, planning her vengeance for the day when she can return to Wallachia and claim her birthright. Radu longs only for a place where he feels safe. And when they meet Mehmed, the defiant and lonely son of the sultan, Radu feels that he’s made a true friend—and Lada wonders if she’s finally found someone worthy of her passion.

But Mehmed is heir to the very empire that Lada has sworn to fight against—and that Radu now considers home. Together, Lada, Radu, and Mehmed form a toxic triangle that strains the bonds of love and loyalty to the breaking point.

(synopsis from Goodreads)
What I thought

This book was good in the sense that I was able to read it at least up to Chapter 15, which was roughly about 45% through. The writing was beautiful in a way, but at the same time, there was nothing really "special" about it. In fact, I was kind of thinking after a while that it was pretty boring. I was thinking to myself, "What's the whole point of the plot". By the time I got to 45% I seriously didn't really get a lot of the terms or what the heck I was reading or why I was even reading it. I mean it was interesting enough, but the story itself was flat, uninteresting.

One thing that bothered me up to this point was the characters. They were great to some extent, character sustenance wise, but they weren't exactly enjoyable. From the summary I thought that the book was going to be similar to Throne of Glass series, but it wasn't. It was far from it! I though Lada was going to be a strong character who was warrior-like, the way Celaena was in Throne of Glass. She wasn't and it burned me up! I was seething because instead of a strong character, I feel like I read about a girl who liked to bully people and sure was "streetsmart" to an extent, but she wasn't using any of her abilities for good. She was very selfish character who looked down on people and was constantly judging others. Where Calaena was rough around the edges, she eventually showed that she had a heart and cared about people, even though she was raised to be the opposite. These are the types of characters that I enjoy to read about, and I though Lada was going to be the same way. Although I understood some of her actions, like her need to not be repressed and married off to a man not of her choice, and who already has wives, I feel like this was understated. Also everything else she did was really rude and obnoxious. It wasn't strength or power.

The only character I can say that I truly felt was respect worthy was probably the little brother. I liked how Radu was respectful and was empathetic, the complete opposite to his sister. I just hated how people treated him and I hated that the author did really make his character more noticeable. Even when it was from his point of view none of his characteristics shined. They were dulled thanks to his sister who was mentioned constantly. I just wish that he stood out more since both Lada and Radu were considered protagonists.

My Overall Thoughts - Slash - Rating

I cannot give this book higher than a 2 star guys. I mean really, I just can't. I didn't like it, I felt that the characters could have been more well rounded and given a better purpose. I felt that they could've also had deeper Personality traits and characteristics. Ones that made them more diverse. Something that made me love them. I was waiting for a character development that never came and that really bites at me. I LOVE character development more than anything in the world of stories. Especially, when you start off hating a character (not too much) and then end up loving them and wanting MORE!

The story itself could've had more development too. I did like the way the author explained the setting and the world the story took place in, but halfway through I was bored. There was no sustenance there either. It was all politics and confusing things that moved too fast. Like Boyous .... I think that's what they were called. Anyways, although the author explained what that meant, I was still in the last scene and by then I was kind of like what the fudge is going on right now.

This is why I must give this book a 2 star. It doesn't mean you guys won't like it, it just wasn't my cup of tea. Still, there were plenty of others who LOVED this book! So please don't be discouraged by my low ratings or DNFs. They are just out there to inform and hopefully you guys can comment on what you guys thought about And I Darken. This would be great for YA lovers and people who like characters that you read from their childhood to their present selves. :) Alright over and out Sweeties! And have a GREAT weekend!

~ P

P.S. By the way, I just wanted to note that I am trying to use a new style of blogging. I want to know what you guys think? Is it making my blog too long? Or should I keep it up? Thanks for keeping up with my blog sweeties! Hope to have more for you soon!

My Favorite Brain Candy

Heeeloooo my sweeties! How are you all doing?

Today I have decided to change things up a bit and share something a little new with you guys! So I always post reviews and give updates, but I never really do anything different. So today - drum roll please -  I have decided to do my top five favorite Paranormal Romance books! Hopefully with this list you can maybe find something new to read :) Okay so on with the list!!

MY ULTIMATE FAVES (Paranormal romance)

Now these books are for all those paranormal romance junkies, who are especially really interested in YA ;) Yup that's right here are my ultimate faves that has stuff to do with romance and creatures that may or may not be scary. Okay so in these particular books, they're probably NOT scary, but they're still things like werewolves, witches, vamps, etc. Enjoy!
  1. 1. The Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout - Okay so anyone who has been on this blog more than once and has looked at my older posts will notice that this is really one of my FAVORITE series. I can read these over and over and over again! Really anything by Jennifer is brain candy for me XD I LOVE her books! This series had aliens (that weren't like weird, nerdy kind, or super cheesy) that were creatively created and were a hoot to read. This series is funny and has those moments when you want to strangle the book and the moments where you want to actually hug the characters.
2. The Sweet Trilogy by Mary Higgins - This series I haven't read11808950 in a loooong while, but when I did - twice - It was the bomb! I mean this is seriously great for readers who love the whole demon genre. This series is working not so much with "demons" but with the demons that control sins or something of that nature. Honestly this book had me on the edge of my seat and I loved absolutely EVERY minute of it! I liked how all of the characters got along and how it wasn't "evil" like scary, but it held some very creative points of view on the whole sin shindig. This book has a lot of humor, friendships, and some real hottie (wink wink Kai)!
3.The Denazen series by Jus Accardo - OOOOH MY GAWSH! This read was one that I had wanted to read for soooo long and when I finally read it, it was soooo good! I couldn't believe how great it was! This book is all about a girl who runs into a boy who has powers. Powers that can destroy and are suuuper dangerous. This girl though can be with him and there's just a whole lot more that really needs to be read. This book is also pretty funny in some scenes, it's not a superhero novel, but it does have powers in it, and overall this was a really good book in general with great characters that were well developed.
4. Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas - What I loved about this book was the STORYLINE! The story is so captivating and I think that it's so great when an author can create a backstory that is both tragic and creative. It just really gets me into the story. When she makes a whole world and conflict that revolves around that creative and tragic backstory, you have me hooked! These books are filled with fantasy-like characters, there's a war in this series, there's angst and love squares? Okay so it's probably a love triangle. Now, for those of you who think that love triangles are a turn off. In this book it isn't!! I hate love triangles too, but this book handles these love triangles like a boss.

5. The Chronicles of Nick by Sherrilyn Kenyon - Wow! This book gets you. Yup the characters, the plotline, everything just grabs you by the shirt and pulls you in. Sherrilyn is another author that really gets down to the nitty gritty and writes some of the most creative plotlines EVER. She writes realistically, creatively, and isn't afraid to write a really tragic backstory. Every character is brought to life with their amazing backstories! This book is also of the demon nature, it has other creatures that go bump in the night, and it is really a mix of new things too. I love the morals and street smarts of the main character and really of all the characters.

Okie Dokie...So that's the end! All of these titles are my absolute faves no.1 being the best and no. 5 being still Great but not numbero uno :) I hoped you enjoyed my absolute random action of the day and I'll see you in my next post!

Paper Princess and Popsicles

Hey Sweeties!

I am absolutely in shattered right now! *weeps*

All of my feels are scattered in little fractures all around me and I don't even know which one to feel first! It's ugh! I want to just open the book right back up again, but I don't because it's just too soon and I'm still reeling from the first time! Grrr....I just want MORE! I want more of Reed and Ella. I want more of the other Royal brothers too. Can I though? Nope. Book 2 doesn't even come out until JULY! *sobs* I NEED THIS BOOK NOW! I literally feel like I'm going to burst if I don't get this book now!! This book was so phenomenal it's not even funny. Saying I love this book is an understatement. I can't even find the word to describe my love! This has definitely became my favorite book! It's way way way up on my favorites list and I have a Feeling it's not coming down ever.
This book to say in the least was about a girl who was alone. She finds someone who needs her just as much as she needs him. At first I didn't love this book not until it opened up like a blooming flower and swallowed me whole. All of the characters were so real and they grew so many feelings in me. The major one was love. I fell in love with Reed. Even if he wasn't the most "conventional" guy he was real and he was imperfect. But ultimately he touches a part of your heart and makes you love his character sooooo much. I honestly loved all the brothers and the way the main character slowly became connected to them. The relationship that bloomed between the characters was just poetic and awesome!

Before I started this book I really thought that it was going to turn out like one of my more recent "Suckerz" Corrupt by Penelope Douglas. I mean technically that was my fault for picking such a dark read, I mean it's all in the title right? But still. Anywayz, the point is, that I thought - based on the storyline - that it was going to be similar to this Corrupt. I don't know why I just did. Boy, was I surprised when it WASN'T! Nope it was way way wayyyyy better. In fact it really wasn't anything like the Corrupt and when I read the prompt I thought it might be darker romance, but it wasn't. In fact, even though they both have pasts, they weren't like SUUUUPPPER dark. Weeeell, that depends on how you look at it. What I mean by dark is that it's not disturbing dark. It's "she has a past that made her into the person today" dark. Where her childhood wasn't entirely conventional, so to speak.

Still I LOVED the optimism the Ella had. Despite the situations, she mulled through and added a somewhat optimistic outlook on it. I won't she's perfect or that I agreed with all of her ideas, but she was a great character that was very "REAL". So was Reed and even now I'm still rooting for them no matter what!

Overall I give this book a FREAKING 5 stars and if you want to be blown away I'd suggest this books 10 times over again!!! So read it because I want to reread it soooo badly! ugh!

Jupin' Jelly Beans! It's been a while...

Hellllooo Sweeties!

I hate that I've been M.I.A in a while. For those who are new, welcome! I haven't posted in awhile because school has kept me SUUUPER busy. That's no excuse! For those of you who are very not new and are frequent visitors, welcome back! This is summer so hopefully, I will be posting more stuff :)

Soooo...I haven't been doing a lot of reading lately either. There wasn't much time last semester. Summer semester is going to be hectic I won't lie, but I have been reading as much as I could before my classes start, which means more posts :D  Not to mention my upcoming schedule has a bunch of books hat I want to read!

Alrighty then here is the upcoming schedule:

Currently Reading
  • The Forbidden Men series - I don't know if I've mentioned this series before on here, but I think I have. If I haven't then here's the bottom line...I LOVE this series! It's awesome and the newest two books just came out recently. This lovely series is written by Linda Kage and I have to say I was pumped to start on these two new babies that I went off my reading schedule a bit. The problem with starting a new book is it starts a chain of events that reminds me of If you give a mouse a cookie. If I start on a new book in a series I'm going to want to reread all of the past books too...and so on. lol XD So that is what I've been doing. To save some time though, I went ahead and just read my faves in the series and the one that I forgot the plotline to.
  • Paper Princess by  - So funny story...I started this book right after I finished The girl's got secrets by Linda Kage. I did this on purpose because I wanted to fit in a new book (in a series I haven't read yet) into the mix since I haven't done that in a while. I wanted to read it now because school will be starting on Monday and I also wanted to put a gap before I read the latest book in The Forbidden Men series. The reason for this is because it's one of the characters that was from a separate age group and isn't quite "part of the forbidden group" as the other characters are. So I decided to treat it like a spin off of sorts and put a little gap before reading it. *shrugs* plus I think I had a little overload of forbidden men...yeah way too much in one sitting. So back to Paper Princess. It's going good so far, but I'm not so sure I like it yet. I'm keeping an open mind though and I really really like the storyline :) Kind of reminds me of a novella called Maria del barrio. Only in book form and in English lol
To Be Read List

The following list is going to be in numerical order on what I will be planning to read next. I've never planned my TBR list this way before, but I'm going to try to stick to it. I'm hoping that this will help me post more while I'm busy with school and it will also be easier to know what I want to read lol. Okay so here it is sweeties!
  1. Priceless by Linda Kage -enough said about this read lol
  2. Fever - Melissa Pearl
  3. The Nick Chronicles - I haven't decided yet whether or not I will be rereading this series or not. I don't believe that I really posted reviews on this series so I might reread in order to refresh my memory as well as get ready for the Newest addition to the series that just came out in May! I waited so long and it wasn't even funny how the author changed the release date!
  4. Six of Crows (this may or may not change)
  5. Grey Wolves series by Quinn Loftis - this is a definite reread since I'm 99.9% sure I haven't really posted a review on this series. Plus I haven't read this series in sooooo long! But it was one of my favorites so I'm willing to reread and read the newest baby in this series too! lol
  6. Shadow and Bone (this may be subject to change)
  7. Sweet evil series - this is loosely added to the list. I kind of miss this series so I've been planning on rereading this, but I want to read so many new books that I may not do this. Plus just look at this list! It's huge!
So this is the Plan plus a little update. I try to at least give you guys an update every month. SO that's something right? I will try to finish Paper Princess this weekend and also give you all a review on The Girl's Got Secrets as well. Okay sweeties I gotta go, but have a FANTASTIC weekend and I'll be writing soon so keep an eye out...well you should probably keep both open since it's dangerous to only keep one open. That, and people will start to think you have a stye or something. Just talking from experience lol.  ;)

Candy Crystals and a 'Throne of Glass'

 Hey sweeties,

Can I just say that I think I have followed a hype. Hype = Throne of Glass. Trend follower = me ;)

Wow! I was so surprised by this book! I never meant to read this book and I wouldn't have if it didn't stop showing up on my Instagram feed. So I finally said, "You know what, maybe I'll just take a little sneak peek". Let's just say, it was the start of a very beautiful friendship.

I'll admit it, only because I try to make my reviews as honest as possible, that I didn't love the beginning of the book. I think it was hard for me to start this book because I had so much going on, school-wise and mind-wise lol. It took be a good three days to actually "start" this baby. In fact, I think at one point I was just going to close it and stick it in my maybe read pile. I am sooo sooo happy that I didn't do that! I finally found some time to really sit down and read so I stuck to it like glue and the further that I got, the harder it was to pull away.

Now, I am addicted! Even when I'm not reading, I feel like I'm still "in the story". It's a great feeling and one that I really haven't felt in a while. It's actually a feeling that I especially get when reading paranormal romances. It makes me excited to read books like this one because even when I'm away from the book I'm curious to know what happens next. What they're going to do, how they're going to solve the problem? Will they use magic or will they die? There's just more unpredictable events that go on in paranormal romances than the events in Contemporary Romances or even New adult. A genre, I've been into for a while. Although they have their little enticing hooks too. Of course, it definitely takes a good paranormal romance to ignite this kind of passion. This is for sure, one of those "PNRS"

What I loved so much about it is the fact that everything was a surprise. There was character in this storyline and I'll admit I found my self opening up to the main character, Calaena, just as much as the actual characters were. I had judged her wrongly just as the Chaol and Dorian and all of the other characters had. And I felt like I was truly in the book because with the characters I too found myself slowly "liking" her character. The book was like a lotus opening up and blooming for the first time.

This I have to say was a work of art. A piece that I probably will go back to again and again. I loved the way the setting was set up and how realistic it was. I love the time period and how realistic the author made that as well. I LOVED all of the twists and turns and surprises. The characters were enchanting and I felt myself being dragged into all of their POV's as well.

Hopefully, this didn't spoil too much and i'm sure that when I talk about the other books in the series, more will come out. For now, This is EXACTLY my feels and I couldn't wish for a better book! I'm really excited now to read the next book and I'm on the edge of my seat to find out what happens next!

Read it I seriously dare you to!

Oh cupcakes ~ it's a Christmas from Hell...

Oh My Ger. Yup I have gotten my hands on the newest edition to my R.L. Mathewson Collection! I was so excited to read this book because of one ULTIMATE reason. I LOVE THIS SERIES! <3 Yes. That is the ultimate reason why I would even look at the gorgeous cover.

Honestly I can vouch for almost anything that this lady writes. I've only read to of her series, but I'm preeetty sure that the others are just as Fantasmic!

*Jumps up and down* I LOVED DUNCAN! I mean sure *shrugs* I love all of the handsome Bradford men, but Duncan has to be one of my Favs.  Now I just have to articulate whyyyy I loved him so much right?

Well here's a detailed list:

- Although he was hurt repeatedly by "His little Jinx" almost every morning, afternoon, or night. He never stopped caring! Even if he said he didn't care...constantly.

- He was definitely SUUUUPER hot. Like hotter than his cousins or even his brothers. Ooookay so mayyybe not Lucifer, but that's a whole other story that won't be coming out for a while ;)

- Um he was food crazy just like his fam, but at least he tried to somewhat have control over his cravings lol. Okaaaay so maybe I love that he had little control over his food cravings, I mean it what makes me love all the Bradfords.

- His methods of being sneaky around the most clutzy person ever was just HIL-AR- IOUS!

Something else that was key to the books was R.L. Mathewson's imagination! I can't help but adore R.L. Mathewson's creativity. I mean in ALL of her books they all have something that makes the book have character. A certain element that no other author has come up with. or turn that something that may have come up in other stories and turn it into something TOTALLY new and funny. That in itself is like looking at amazing art in the most prestigious art museum!

Oh and who can forget about Gramps. I loved the grandpa in this book! He was the most entertaining character I've read in a long time! I loved how sneaky he was with food too, but for another reason entirely.

*Le Sigh* Basically this book was just something that I couldn't let go of. There wasn't a time when I didn't laugh, squeal, or just look ridiculous because I was drooling in the middle of my college's library...it was only a little bit! Don't judge. heehee

SO read it! GO! I dare you...

Luck of the update! March Maddness!!!!

Hey sweeties!

This a long awaited update! I hate to say this...but I am a terrible blogger. I sit everyday at my desk reading for school and getting ready for midterms and endless essays, waiting for a break in my schedule to finally blog. Luckily, I am going to be doing my one more test today before SPRING BREAK! FINALLY!

I will be grabbing my beautiful stack of TBR's and I am going to read my arse off! I have been suuuuper into this one series though so it's not that I'm not reading. I just don't have time to post reviews about it yet.

Books I've finished in the last month or two:

- Christmas from Hell (the Neighbor From Hell series by R.L. Mathewson)
- The first 3 books in the (Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas) Which is the most AMAZING series that I've read in a really really long time! I can't wait to write a review on this series! I cannot believe that I didn't read this book sooner!!

Book to Read next:

- Fire Touched By Patricia Briggs: This book has got me on the edge of my seat! I can't wait to start it! I have been waiting 1 long year for a new Mercy Thompson book. I finally have it and am ready to read it....as soon as I've finished Throne of Glass series. Unfortunately, at the same time I don't want the Throne of Glass series to end yet!

- Shadow and Bone  By Leigh Bardugo: This book I'm still on the fence with. I want to read it because come on, The reviews on goodreads are full of 5 stars. So why not, right? Well....I am just not sure, but I will try it because I tried Throne of Glass and am LOVING it.

- Six of Crows also By Leigh Bardugo: I honestly didn't realize before now that I will  be reading two books by the same author this month! XD Cool! I really liked what I started reading at Target. I went down the book aisle, as I do on a regular basis, and this baby caught my eye. I was like hmmmm...I've seen a bunch of book bloggers post this book on Instagram and stuff. So I opened it up to a random page and read a little excerpt. Um, SH-yea, I liked it! Soooo I'm thinking of reading that next-ish.

- Court of Thorns and Roses By Sarah J. Maas: Simply, I read the Throne of Glass series and I just don't want to let go. This book sounds very similar to that series and it's written by the same author, so why not?

- Fated By R.L. Mathewson: This is just one of my favorite series. One that I will probably go through all over again before I read the new book. Just because I can. Mwahhahahahaaha lol ;)

Those are pretty much the books that are on my mind right now. As I say in pretty much every update, this list is subject to change AT ANY TIME. I am a very unpredictable person and LOVE to just switch up my lovely set schedule in an instant. It's just the way I am. lol

So if anyone hasn't read any of these lovelies that maybe we can read them together ^ _ ^. If you don't want to, cool :)

Well. Off to take a test!

Your truly,

~ P

Sugary 'Infinity' and an Update!

First I'm going to write a review on the MOST AMAZING book I have read this month! It was the best book to start the year on and I'm sad that I finished the series so fast. Well...I technically didn't "finish" the series...yet. I just have to wait a long time before the next one is released. I have to wait all the way, until April. I know and then I'll have to wait until 2017 for the one after that! UGH! I am so frustrated and upset because of the long timeframe between the books.

So without further or do, here's my review! :) lol

Three words...BEST. SERIES. EVER.

I am not even kidding with you right now! This is literally one of THE best series I've read in a really long time. This is the kind of love where I can't stop talking, thinking, or reading this book! I just can't put it down and when I do I can't get it out of my mind or my heart. That's true love right there *presses book against chest* lol

I don't know what exactly I loved about this book! Was it the charismatic ways of Gautier or maybe it was just everything that was NICK GAUTIER.

I liked that even though he wasn't completely sure about himself, he held his head high. He had standards and rules for himself. Everything that he did was for others and it just made his character even greater. I seriously enjoyed everything that had to do with Nick Gautier period. His charisma, his sarcastic wit, and it streetwise knowledge. I also just LOVE how he handles every situation that coms his way.

But it wasn't just Nick Gautier though, it was all the other character too! They just got to me and I was sucked into their humorous dialogue. I seriously enjoyed the banter between Nick and Kyrian, Caleb, and every other character in this book.

Once I opened it, there was no way I could close it. Literally. I just started my new semester of college and all I could think about was Nick Gautier and the crew. He's addicting and I am sad that I finished it so fast, luckily there are still five other books before it ends, well not end end, but until I have to wait until April for the next book :) So not looking forward to that because I'm sure it'll be sweet torture, cher. lol

Read it! It's really really FANTASTIC!

Now I'm gonna give a very small update!

I just started college again! I don't really know what that is going to mean for this blog, but it usually means that I won't be spewing out as many reviews. I know I promised more reviews this break and I actually did more that usual, but there were still very few. I tried to write more I was just too busy. Still, just because I started school DOESN'T mean I'm going to stop writing reviews or stop reading. So while it may take me a while, I will try to do a review a week (unless I'm rereading a series).

Other than that everything will follow as normally as possible. :)

Happy Reading Sweeties!

The Sweet 'Mistake'

"The Mistake" I made was not slowing down. Yup, I admit it. I wish I slowed down with this wonderful amazing book! But like all things, (especially chocolate) you devour it all in one sitting and next thing you know they're gone. The good thing about books though is the fact that you can always RE-read. Like I love to say, being a bookworm is both a blessing and a curse. Heehee ;).

Now, what did I like about this book... *taps finger against chin* well, for one thing the story was AWESOME!! I really felt connected this character more than Hannah in 'The Deal'. I don't really know why, wait. No I do. I felt more connected because I too ramble and I too talk WAY too much. I like action movies and trust me there are many more traits that I found we're alike in. If I keep listing them like I am then we'll be here all night lol.

I also HAVE to applaud the cover, once again! I mean the first one was better, no doubt. But this one is just as Yummy ^  _  ^! If that makes me sound like totally inappropriate or something then so be it! It. Was. Yummilicious!

I actually really loved Logan. Yes, he wasn't perfect. A very good attribute. I liked the way he was sweet. He cared about everyone, especially his friends. Even though he was in between a rock and a hard place. He tried. He wanted to do the right thing. And that, in my book, made him awesome.

Everything about this book was interesting and realistic. Yet SUUUUUUPER enticing.

Overall, I give this book a million thumbs up. I dare you to read it!

Sooo Many books! Not enough time!

What's up Nerds :)

I guess today I wanted to talk about is everything. I guess I'm going to start with the whole mortal instruments series. I really want to reread the entire series over again, but another GIANT part of me doesn't. I would literally be starting from the first book and there are like a total of 6 books in the series. AAAND as much as I LOVED the series I don't really want to reread the series again. I sound soo lazy saying that, but I'm just not feeling it. A part of that reason is because I'm kind of looking for something a little different to start off the year and shadowhunters and Cassandra Clare's writing style isn't cutting it. I DID try at least 1/3 of the first book it's just not working for me.

So...that means that I think for now I'm going to keep it at the back of my mind while I read something new. I mean it is the new year right?! *Sighs* This basically is going to push up my schedule for my books which I posted yesterday :) The Mortal Instruments series will just be going towards the bottom.

This also means that the new Shadowhunters show is going to have to wait :( A HUGE part of me is okay with that because I really have been doubting this show. I watched the movie and was pretty impressed due to it's closeness with the book. From the trailer to the show, I'm not seeing that closeness to the book so I'm not really in the "I WANNA WATCH IT NOW!" mindset.

This is pretty good news though...in a way, because I will be posting some new reviews and stuff. It won't be about cool nephilium that fight demons, but hopefully they'll be good ones *crosses fingers*.

That kind of brings me to the fact that I have soooo many books that I want to read right now. Like sooooooooo many. You have seen my list so you guys know what I'm talking about! School will be resuming soon so that will put a big damper on some of the books I want to read and the speed I want to read at. :) I know happy face is the totally wrong emoji I should be using, but I needed something super positive in this post. So yeah...

Alrighty I gotta go but a review will be posted soon!

Juicy January!

What's up my Sweeties!

I have sooooooo much to write about it's not even funny! EEEEPPP! I am just so HAPPY right now! Okay so first I have to say, I am sick. I am pretty sure it the flu mixed with the cold with a dash of death :( But I WILL NOT let it bring me down lol. I am wayyy too happy right now for that!

First off, I also want to apologize...again. I promised more reviews, but I've been a total noob about it. I really meant to write more reviews, but then Xmas happened and then New Years and then I got sick and stuff. Wow there were a lot of "ands" in that sentence. Mainly I just wanted to reread the Lux series for like the millionth bizillionth time! I'm finally on the last-ish book and I'm not sure yet if I 'm going to just skip over it and get back to the books I need to read or if I'm going to finish that last book and then move on. SO... that's pretty much the lame-o reason for being so sucky with my reviews. ^  _ ^

Here's my new and updated plan for the next couple of weeks though:

1. Finish the Lux series (again) or...not.

2. The Billionaire Bargain by Lila Monroe

Now for this bad boy, I'm not sure. I really do want to read it and I really don't. I mean I've read a ton of these before and I admit I loved them, but they all have the same storyline. Rich guy meets selfless girl who is different, etc. etc. Then again it's my favorite kind of story. Plus this one has a SEXY AUSTRALIAN. Who doesn't love a sexy male character with an accent???

3. Sweet Soul by Tillie Cole

This one looks really good, but again I don't know. It's the start of the new year and I really want to read something MIND BLOWING! Which is why I am so iffy with actually picking a new book. I am having one of those book worm moments where I want to read something as fantastical as something I've already read kind of deal. I just can't find it, yet! Hopefully this will fulfill my bookworm needs lol.

Books that I also said I would read and still need to read next:

4.  Some Sort of Happy by Melanie Shaw

I basically got this one because I heard it was funny and the setting was college.

5. Dirty English by Isla Madden-Mills

This one seems good, but I'm not sure if I want to jump on it or not. I've heard great things about iImage result for city of bones seriest and it has good reviews so I think it'll be good :)

TO - MAYBE - Re-read

Image result for city of bones series1. City of Bones series by Cassandra Clare

EEEP! I've been wanting to reread this series ever since I didn't finish the last book in 2014. Yeah, it's been that long. Seriously this needs to be done, especially when I have the NEW SHADOWHUNTERS show to watch. Which is a completely another story for another post.

2. Sustained by Emma Chase

Just because it was AWESOME and FUNNY!

Anyways! That is my list so far and it is subject to change at any time!!!! Just like all the other times. I tend to change my mind A LOT!

I also wanted to talk about the new Shadowhunters  TV series, but seeing that I have a lot of feels for this book series and a bunch of thoughts for the actual TV show I'm going to refrain from writing about it in this post. I will say that it might come up in a near future post so watch out for that one. I also know that I'm suuuuper late because the show came out days ago and other bloggers and youtubers and whatnot have probably already done their promos and stuff. SO I apologize for not doing a post about it sooner!

Also I just want to announce that I have followed some new reviewers slash bloggers slash youtubers. They are all going to be like one category lol. So one of them is aestas book blog which you can access here. The link will lead to her awesome review of Obsidian so yeah. And the other one is PolandBananasBooks, which you can find here. She's more of a youtuber rather than a blogger, but I really love her videos about the different books and emotions and actions that book worms go through! I also love that she dabbles in TV reviews and like top tens in that category too. Here is also where you can find her (Christine Riccio) actual site.

Other than that stuff, I'm just trying not to die from this stupid flu (I'm not really dying, but it totes feels that way) and read before school comes back.

I'll  be back sweeties so stay tuned!

~ P

P.S. If you all have a suggestion or recommendation on what I should read next or should ever add to my lists then please let me know :) Thanks!!
